Why Your Cellular Camera Says No Network

Updated June 1, 2026

A cellular camera usually says no network because of activation, APN, roaming, signal, SIM insertion, locked device, or band compatibility issues. Work through these checks before replacing the camera.

Why Your Cellular Camera Says No Network

Check activation and data

Log in to m.spectrumsim.com and confirm the SIM is active, has data, and has not expired.

Check APN and roaming

Use APN puffin for most current SpectrumSIM cards and turn on data roaming if the device has that setting.

Check signal and antenna

Install the antenna firmly, test outdoors, and wait several minutes after rebooting the camera.

Check compatibility

The camera must be unlocked and support US cellular bands. A locked or incompatible camera may not connect with any SIM.

Common questions

Why does my camera say please activate SIM?

The SIM may not be active yet, the APN may be wrong, or the camera may not be connecting to a compatible network.

Should roaming be on?

Yes. SpectrumSIM multi-carrier cards often require data roaming to be enabled.
