How to Set Up Your Spectrum Smart WiFi Dongle
Your package includes a pre-installed SIM card — just plug in, activate, and connect.
Locate Your ICCID Number
Your package includes a Dongle, a SIM card carrier, and a user manual. The Micro-SIM is already installed inside the Dongle — no need to insert it yourself. The large plastic card is the SIM card carrier. It has the ICCID number printed on it, which you will need to activate the SIM. Note: your Dongle's appearance may differ from the pictures, but the setup is exactly the same.
Power On the Dongle
Plug the Dongle into any powered USB port — such as a laptop, power bank, wall charger, or car charger. The indicator lights will flash red and blue, signaling the device is booting up.
Activate the Pre-Installed SIM Card
Once the device is powered on, visit m.spectrumsim.com and activate the SIM using the ICCID number from the carrier card. The Dongle will not connect to the internet until the SIM is activated.
Connect to spectrum_wifi
Click the WiFi icon on your phone, laptop, or tablet. Toggle WiFi off and back on to refresh the network list — it may take a few tries before spectrum_wifi appears. Connect to it using the password printed on the top of the box or on the back of the device.
Troubleshoot a Missing Connection
If you are connected to spectrum_wifi but have no internet access, try this: (1) Unplug the Dongle from the USB port. (2) Wait 2–3 minutes. (3) Plug it back in. This forces the device to re-register on the cellular network.
Still Having Issues?
Here are the most common causes and how to fix them.
Toggle your device's WiFi off and back on to force a fresh scan. Make sure the dongle lights are on and it is fully booted. Try a different USB port or power source if the lights are not flashing.
Confirm your SIM is activated at m.spectrumsim.com. If already activated, unplug the dongle, wait a few minutes, and plug it back in to re-register on the network.
The initial cellular registration can take up to 10 minutes, especially in areas with weaker signal. Keep the dongle plugged in and wait before trying again.
That is normal — we carry several dongle models. The appearance may vary but the setup process is identical across all models.
